A winning competition entry and subsequent multiple award nominee the new headquarters for Greenfields Community Housing is an exemplar scheme with ambitious environmental performance targets. The design team’s response was a ‘fabric first’ approach through increased U-Values and improved air-tightness. The resulting project demonstrates that an impressive sustainable performance does not need to compromise a striking building design or overall functionality.

A working group, comprised of Greenfields’ residents, board members and staff, was engaged in all decisions, from design to procurement. Members of the local community shared the responsibility of creating an equitable and successful office, enabling flexibility and productive working practices, while simultaneously creating a welcoming and engaging home for Greenfields and its community.
